No. While the programme is led by the SANDF and includes basic training in discipline and character building, it is fundamentally a skills development and entrepreneurship programme focused on building South Africa's sovereignty in food, water, energy, and technology.

Registration opens on 15 April 2026 and closes on 15 May 2026. The programme officially starts on 1 June 2026.

The registration fee is R170, payable via Payfast. This fee covers your application processing and secures your spot in the programme.

South African citizens aged 18–35 with a minimum of Grade 12 / Matric or an N3 Certificate. A fitness test and Police Clearance Certificate are required.

How long is the programme?

The programme runs for 12 months — 6 months of intensive training followed by 6 months of on-the-job experiential training.
